Haley Goodrow (She/They)

Haley, a research technician originally from Houston, Texas, joined the lab in June of 2023 after graduating from Wellesley College with a double major in Biology and Spanish. She completed an Honors Thesis in the Biological Sciences Department as a member of the Lab of Steven Biller, PhD studying the role of extracellular vesicles in marine microbial communities. Her thesis work specifically focused on the mechanisms of horizontal gene transfers in these microbial communities and the role vesicles may play in those exchanges.

Upon joining the Bernt Lab, Haley first continued the work of studying resistance to Menin Inhibitors in KMT2A-r leukemias with high-risk features. Since then she has worked alongside Fatemeh Alikarami, PhD in her investigations of the mechanisms of chemotherapeutic resistance in more stem-like hematopoietic progenitor population derived leukemia. This year Haley also began working on the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative Human Cell Atlas collaboration to help develop a model of healthy pediatric atlas of hematopoiesis and immune development. For the Children’s Oncology Group clinical trail for iALL (AALL2321) set to start at the end of 2024, Haley will perform spectral flow cytometry for BH3 profiling of patient cells at multiple time points.

During her free time Haley enjoys exploring the outdoors, reading, hanging out with her pet guinea pigs, and trying new recipes. She recently joined the Penn Dragon Boat club, and this summer is growing veggies on her stoop to supplement her farm share.
